First view of Jerusalem and The Church of Dominus Flevit

Hey everyone! So sorry it’s been awhile. I still have so many pictures and stories to share with you guys! This post will be a bit of a short one, but I just want to share our first view of Jerusalem from the Church of Dominus Flevit. It was breathtaking!

The golden dome you see is The Dome of the Rock. It is up on the Temple Mount where the old Temple would have been. Interestingly enough, the Dome of the Rock is actually a Muslim Shrine. It is built on the place where they believe Mohammed ascended into heaven. To Jews and Christians however, the Dome of the Rock is the place where Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac up on Mount Moriah.
Here is another overlook of the city. If memory serves me, this is the Kidron Valley which separates Mount Moriah and the Mount of Olives, which is where the Church of Dominus Flevit is.
This is the Church of Dominus Flevit. It is shaped like a tear drop to symbolize Jesus weeping openly for the destruction of the temple and the future of the Jewish people.Ā

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace – but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

Luke 19:41-44 (NIV)

Can’t wait to share more with you, and thank you so much again for reading! šŸ™‚
